A Touch of the Past
I come from a highly artistic family. My Mom sang professionally while I was growing up and my Dad was always in the garage building things - anything from elaborate marble rolls and go-carts to our custom home in Thousand Oaks, CA. My sister, Shiloah is a talented pianist. I believe having a creative family nurtured my passion for visual arts. In fact, my first memory as a two year-old is of drawing in the kitchen.
I am the short one in the picture. The handsome guy is my supportive husband Robert, whom I have known since 1976.


Inspiration
I am inspired by movement. It is interesting to me that we recognize someone we know 100 feet away just by the way they walk. My passionate dancers are caught in exaggerated poses, long stretches, and emotional grace.

My landscapes are moody. Heavy fog, mysterious paths, fields bursting with flowers, and secret hideaways. No matter how hard we try to control the land and environment, it can swallow us whole in the blink of an eye. I am inspired by the power of God.

Vibrant flowers are visual presents from God. Each one is as unique as we are. I challenged myself to paint a flower for every letter of the alphabet for my Flowers A-Z series. This both improved my skills as a painter and opened my eyes to the vast variety of species.

The Process
I work with acrylics on fine linen canvas or gessoed hardboard for my smaller pieces. I use a combination of images from photographs and imagination.
